5s

Matrix Automation has integrated the 5S philosophy and understanding into our MES solution.

Matrix Automation’s MES solution contributes to the pillars of 5S in your workplace.

5S was a starting point in developing our hardware architecture for the plant floor. The structural elements of 5S are summarized below with our contribution to them:

Sort -- Remove all items from the workplace that are not needed for current production operations.

Matrix Contribution -- Are architecture is designed to minimize plant floor presence while maximizing functionality. Our system supports the reduction of In Process inventory by controlling and stabilizing the entire manufacturing and assembly process allowing for accurate production scheduling that reflects your customer TAKT time.

Example: Standard ProductionWare station will have a Flat panel Touch Screen Monitor and a Thin Client to run the station process. This allows for professional installation and minimal plant floor presence.

Set in Order -- Arranging needed items so that they are easy to use and labeling them so that they are easy to find and put away.

Matrix Contribution -- Standard plant floor hardware architecture utilizes light weight components that are professionally installed and labeled as required.

Shine -- Sweeping floor, wiping off machinery, and generally making sure that everything in the factory stays clean.

Matrix Contributions -- By reducing plant floor hardware our customers will only need to maintain the Touch Screen user interface. Utilizing thin client technology reduces standard workstation hardware on the plant floor. Risk of damage is minimized by reducing components of the system on the plant floor.

Example: Eliminating plant floor work stations eliminates potential storage spots for plant personnel that would require constant upkeep and maintenance.

Standardize -- Method utilized to maintain Sort, Set in Order and Shine.

Matrix Contribution -- Your stations will have the same look and feel throughout the entire build process. We provide thin client terminals and touch screen monitors with standard mounting hardware in compliance with standardization.

Example: Each station will have a thin client and Touch Screen standard with required mounting plate and ergonomic arm. All plant floor workstations will be visually identical and non intrusive.

Sustain -- Making a habit of Maintaining correct procedures.

Maintaining correct procedures is what ProductionWare does best.
