If you would like to track defects during your production process, and you should, you can define defects that your operators can register at any time using ProductionWare. Registering a defect is very simple and is done in station using a ProductionWare touch screen monitor or a bar code scanner. Furthermore, defects are categorized for easy and timely selection thereby minimizing the impact on cycle time. Multiple defects can be registered at the same time and can be flagged for supervisor notification. If the defect has been assigned defect disposition process, an alarm is sent to the assigned processes indicating that the defect was discovered by operator “x” and in process area “y”. This has been a very effective method of communicating problems to others without much effort or disruption. The defect registration data can be a valuable tool for isolating process areas that may be causing the defect. For example, a part could be damaged by a conveyor or fixture two processes after the component was installed on a module. Whatever the case, the data is available and you can change the defect definitions at any time. Typical Reports - available by Plant, Line, Station & Operator
